Lemony artichokes

Let’s continue with Mamma Flora’s Christmas preparation. Today I want to introduce you to a simple but very tasty side: sauteed lemony artichokes. In my family we love artichokes and this is a quick way to prepare them and serve as a side.


  • 4 artichokes
  • 2 lemon slices
  • ½ cup of water
  • 1tbsp of oil
  • Salt and pepper


  • 1 pan


  • Cut off and discard all but 3cm of the artichoke stalks and with you hands remove the tough outer leaves. Once you reach the softer leaves underneath, cut off the top part of what is called the heart of the artichoke. Now cut in 4-6 parts
  • In a pan place the artichokes, the oil, the water and the 2 slices of lemon. Cover and cook for 15-20min
  • Check that the artichoke slices are soft and that the water has been absorbed.
  • Salt and pepper, serve either at warm or at room temperature
